That website was made by the man named Neil Pasricha. He got this inspiration by the news, but not the happy side of it. He noticed that the news always talked about global warming, wars, or other things that could bring you down. Neil decided to counter that depressing news in the media with his own website explaining the happy things on life. He said:
"If you flipped open the newspaper it was filled with the same stuff every day. The polar ice caps were melting, there were pirates storming the seas, the economy was on the verge of collapse, and there were wars going on all over the world. As a result, I created a website discussing popping bubble wrap, or snow days, or the smell of a bakery."
1000 Awesome Things focuses on improving everyone's mood, and I think it does a great job. It worked on me anyway. Although I don't apply to every fact in the website, I think it is a good place to check when you are feeling down. Also, on somewhat of a side note. You're able to submit something you think is awesome that he hasn't added yet. Just click here.
